Swine Flu in Mexico

There is a lesson to learn from Mexico preventive control measures. Communication to control the disease has been implemented. Here in the US is a great level communication to control and prevent the spread of this Swine Flu, the CDC is sending out information day by day of the numbers of people infected, and also of the prevention and treatment.

The H1N1 vaccine for Swine Flu is not ready yet.  The preventive measures are the only way to prevent it, and they are easy to be implemented.

Prevention and Control Measures

On April 24, the Council for General Hygiene convened with the President of the Mexican Republic and decreed the closure of all schools in the Federal District and metropolitan area of Mexico City. Incoming and outgoing airport passengers were informed of the outbreak and advised to seek care immediately should they experience symptoms of ILI. Other measures included 1) disseminating educational messages regarding respiratory hygiene through mass media; 2) distributing masks and alcohol hand-sanitizer to the public; and 3) discouraging large public gatherings, including church services, theater events, and soccer games. On April 25, a national decree allowed for house-isolation of any person with a suspected case, and on April 27, school closures were mandated throughout the country

Swine Flu and Washing Hands video

There are several measures to prevent Swine Flu,

Avoid contact the hands of an  infected person, and especially while this person is sneezing or coughing.

If you feel with flu-like symptoms go to see a doctor for treatment.

Swine Flu and Prevention

There is an  increased number of  infected persons with Swine Flu since April 21, 2009, when the CDC officially announced the first cases of Swine Flu in  Saint Francis High School in Queens, NYC.

What to do next?

Well, it is very important to prevent this disease by washing your hands with regular soap and water.

Swine flu is transmitted only from human to human, from a person that is infected with this Swine Flu virus to a person that is not infected with this virus. The swine flu virus is also called the H1N1 virus
