About Stigmatization of AIDS and Tuberculosis patients

STIGMATIZATION AND ETHICS IN PUBLIC HEALTH
_____________________________________________

The stigmatization of AIDS patients and Tuberculosis patients is against ethics and public health.

However, "the antitobacco movement has fostered a social transformation which involves stigmatization of smokers"(1), and yet in this case, since stigmatization was not the main factor for the antitobacco movement but public health, and increased tax on cigarette packs, I could said, the decreasing incidence on tobacco use is a public health achievement.

What is Environmental health?

It will be interesting to read the World Health Organization definition of environmental health, definition that has been documented since 1989. Please click the link below:
http://www.euro.who.int/eprise/main/WHO/Progs/HEP/20030612_1

After 9/11 (World Trade Center attack, September 11. 2001) it appears that environmental health and occupational health are closely related. Occupational health includes the work environment.

Flu Vaccine indications and contraindications

It's always better to get the Flu Vaccine during Flu season (Fall and Winter seasons).

However there are Flu vaccine contraindications. For example, if a person is allergic to eggs, then the Flu vaccine is contraindicated.

Are you taking Asthma prescribed medications?

A recent research study showed severe adverse effects are caused by Salmeterol and Formoterol (LABA).

On November 18, 2005, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) made this statement:

Patients receiving these medications should be advised to seek medical attention immediately if their asthma worsens, according to an alert sent today from MedWatch, the FDA's safety information and adverse event reporting system. Source: www.medscape.com

Asthma Issues

The most important place to avoid asthma symptoms is the bedroom. An average human being spends at least a third of his/her life in bed. (Source : Book "Asthma for Dummies" , Author William Berger, MD. Published: 2004.

A recent research study showed that the first trigger for Asthma is the patient's bedding, and the second trigger is the bedroom floor. I advise you to avoid these triggers everyday by keeping your bedroom totally clean.

Please send me your comments if you are in contact with a friend or relative who has Asthma.
